English: Facsimile edition sponsored by the Fenno-Ugrian Society describing the extensive expedition on a 14,000 mile trek across 1906-1908 by the Finnish author through Russian Turkestan, Chinese Turkestan, Western China, the provinces of Kan Su, Shensi, and Shansi to Beijing. The initial objective had been to make military assessments by Mannerheim and his unit, but it quickly extended to an extensive archaeological, ethnological, and geographical study. The second volume includes descriptions of manuscripts from Eastern Turkestan, physical anthropology, Buddhist manuscript fragments in Sanskrit and Khotanese, Uigur documents, fragment of Mongolian script, and more.
Русский: Факсимильное издание, спонсированное Финно-Угорским обществом, в котором описывается обширная экспедиция по маршруту протяжённостью в 14 000 миль, совершённое будущим маршалом и президентом Финляндии — Карлом Густавом Эмилем Маннергеймом (1867—1951) — в 1906—1908 годах. Путь проходил через Российский Туркестан, Китайский Туркестан, Западный Китай, провинции Кан Су, Шэньси и Шанси в Пекин.
